THE revival of Galashiels Town Band has begun with a blast.

And the musicians will continue their milestone year with a further two performances this week ahead of leading the Braw Lads' parade on June 29.

The Town Band was at the forefront of the Spurs Night celebrations last Friday evening.

And they will also provide the musical accompaniment for the Threepwood rideout this weekend.

On Saturday evening Galashiels Town Band will also perform at their Spring Concert in Trinity Church.

But it will be a return to duties, after 33 years, on Braw Lads' Day that is creating the most excitement.

Band chairman Neal Wade said: “Being able to take our full place in the Gathering has always been one of our goals and we are so pleased to have reached that milestone this year.

"While many members have played on the Gala Day over recent years, this year will be the first time in at least 33 years that the Town Band will lead the Braw Lad and Lass down to the Raidstane."

Saturday's Spring Concert at Trinity Church starts at 7.30pm - tickets are available on the door.
