A MOTORIST has admitted careless driving on the A703 road between Peebles and Penicuik at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
The occupants of a vehicle following 43-year-old Stuart Kerr were so concerned about the manner of driving they filmed him on a webcam.
Kerr was originally charged with dangerous driving but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving.
The court was told he had entered the opposite lane of the road for no apparent reason and left the carriageway and mounted a verge on June 26 last year.
Defence lawyer Stephanie Clinkscale said the weather conditions were foggy at the time and he thought he was coming to a bend when in fact the road was still straight.
She added that he also punctured a tyre but managed to get it home.
Kerr of Carlops Avenue, Penicuik, was fined £225 and had his licence endorsed with five penalty points.
