A 43-year-old man who admitted assaulting two former partners at houses in Selkirk 15 years ago has received a two and a half years prison sentence at the town's sheriff court.

Alexander Wood, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to four offences involving the women dating back to 2003 and 2004.

He also admitted four breaches of bail conditions including approaching a third former partner in Jedburgh when there was a court order preventing him from doing so.

The 30-months jail sentence was back-dated to October 4 when Wood was first remanded in custody in connection with the matter.
