BORDER beauticians brought it home for the area at Scotland's Business Awards last Sunday.

Galashiels-based La Beaute won Best Borders Business at the grand final in Glasgow’s Marriott Hotel.

Proud owner Angie Shillinglaw and beautician Sarah Chapman have over twenty-five years of experience in the beauty industry between them.

Since opening La Beaute 13 years ago, the ladies have worked hard to ensure each customer receives an individually tailored high standard of treatment.

After being awarded Best Galashiels Business at the Borders Business Awards last September, the duo went on to compete with businesses across Scotland.

Angie told us: “We first found out we had been nominated for the Borders Business Awards last summer after being secretly voted for by our clients and mystery shopping had taken place, which we were unaware of.”

“We then found out we had qualified for the Grand Final in Glasgow, competing against businesses from all over Scotland.

“Honestly, I didn't think we could possibly win, it was such a huge ceremony in comparison. So, we were ecstatic to say the least.

600 people attended the black-tie dinner with just 50 awards up for grabs throughout the whole of Scotland.

Since 2015, the business awards have run across 13 regions in Scotland with a selection of winners attending the annual grand final.

Nominations for the awards are open all year and anyone can submit a business they think deserves to win.

Angie added: “It is such a fantastic achievement to be recognised for a job we absolutely love! It was a certainly an unbelievable win for us and we can't thank everyone enough who has taken the time to vote for La Beaute.”
