THE Borders Art Fair is looking for local talent to apply for the 2020 festival.

After attracting more than 6000 visitors to the region in March, plans are already in place for next year’s event.

Organisers are looking for artists, galleries, and collectives who are interested in showcasing their work.

Over £145,000 was spent at this year’s festival, making the fair the biggest visual art exhibition in the Borders.

As well as playing host to artist-led workshops and an array of competitions and creative talks, there will also be more than 60 exhibitor stands to browse, as well as a host of family entertainment.

Borders Art Fair 2020 will be held at the Borders Events Centre in Kelso on March 13-to-15.

And organisers are keen to find as many local artists as possible to apply, to “take advantage of the shared audience, marketing, PR and networking opportunities”.

Director Frances Fergusson said: “This is a great opportunity for local artists and galleries to show off some of the creativity that this region has to offer.”

Participants will also get the opportunity to network and make some high-profile contacts within the industry.

Among this year’s exhibitionists were painter Neil Wilson from Berwick Upon Tweed, whose work has been on show at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and James Fairgrieve, an influential still-life painter from Gordon.

The deadline for exhibitor applications is September 9.
