CHILDREN are being encouraged to get sporty this summer by local charity Live Borders.

A series of holiday camps has been organised across the region throughout July and August.

The events will be run by experienced and qualified members of the Live Borders team, with a range of experts leading different activities including athletics, tennis, gymnastics, and inflatables.

And everyone who attends receives a certificate.

The extended camps, which now include Hawick and Eyemouth, as well as the previously popular Peebles, Galashiels and Kelso venues, are open to all children between five and 11.

Graeme Murdoch, active communities manager for Live Borders, told us: “Our previous holiday camps were a huge success and we have used the feedback from parents and children to tailor our programme for the forthcoming holidays.

“Kids don’t need to be sporty or arty to take part: they just need to like to have fun.

"The Camp is all about ‘having a go’, no matter what your age or ability.

"Ultimately, the aim is to help our kids to be healthier, happier and stronger. We hope to see some familiar faces, but we also can’t wait to meet lots of new participants.”

Early booking is advised for local charity Live Borders’ popular Holiday Activity camps.

Tickets: £20.50 per child per day.
