AN investigation has been launched after a starling was shot with a dart in the Borders.
The incident, which happened in Newtown St Boswells at the weekend, resulted in the bird having to be put down by a local vet.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "If you saw anything suspicious or are able to assist with our enquiries, please contact us on 101 using incident number 1046 of July 15, 19.
"Alternatively If you have any information about this, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org"
