A 51-year-old man who admitted a series of offences involving his former partner has been jailed for more than 15 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Vincent Cardle pleaded guilty to culpably and recklessly pouring lighter fluid over the woman's legs at a house in Howegate, Hawick, in January causing the danger of an explosion.
He also admitted slapping her in the face to her injury and stabbing her on the hand with a pair of scissors a couple of days earlier.
Cardle, who gave an address in Glasgow, also pleaded guilty to a number of breaches of bail and vandalism at the house in Howegate in April.
Defence lawyer Gordon Martin described the couple's relationship as "volatile"
Cardle was jailed for a total of 464 days, back-dated to April 23.
