WARNINGS have been issued for major thunderstorms as well as torrential rain to hit the Borders over the next three-to-four days.
The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for this (Thursday) evening through to the early hours of Friday for thunder and lightning.
And a similar 'be prepared' yellow warning for downpours has been posted for Saturday and Sunday.
Met Office meteorologist, Aidan McGivern believes the current heatwave will trigger 'serious' thunderstorms tonight.
He said: “Like Tuesday, these thunderstorms will bring heavy hail, lightning and gusty winds.”
The yellow warning for thunderstorms remains live until 4am tomorrow.
The weekend's warning for heavy rain runs from 12noon on Saturday through to 3pm on Sunday.
