TWO Albanian-nationals have appeared in court in connection accused of running a £150,000 cannabis farm in the Borders.

Thirty year old Mirjan Kastrati and Korab Halilaj, who is 22, are charged with being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and producing cannabis.

The offence is alleged to have been committed at a former bookmakers shop in Channel Street, Galashiels, in April when 700 cannabis plants were said to have been found in the first floor premises.

They pleaded not guilty when they appeared on indictment at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

The intermediate trial diet was continued until August 19 and the pair, both described as being of no fixed abode, were remanded in custody.
