A HAWICK man who drove a car while almost four times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for 12 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Stuart Storrie, 29, of Havelock Place, pleaded guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol count of 82 microgrammes - the legal limit being 22 - in Wilton Hill, Hawick, on August 18.
Depute fiscal Fiona Hamilton said the offence happened at 2.20am on a Sunday.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client had been going through a difficult time and had just lost his employment of nine years.
He described the offence as an "error of judgement".
Sheriff Eric Brown reduced the length of the ban from 18 months to 12 months to reflect the guilty plea.
He also fined Storrie £400.
