A 26-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being accused of stealing a quantity of cash from a Chinese restaurant in Hawick.
James Birchall, of no fixed abode, pleaded not guilty at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to the theft from The Laughing Buddha in High Street on Thursday.
A trial date was fixed for October 3 with an intermediate hearing on September 17 and bail was refused.
