THE summer holidays may just have ended but a cracking Christmas concert is already hitting the headlines.

On The Brinck Promotions have lined up a festive feast in Innerleithen with Big Country set to headline.

Building on the success of the July 2 show at the Memorial Hall, Clive Brinck has arranged a return for the 1980s chart toppers.

Clive said: "They really enjoyed themselves and were only too happy to confirm a return date.”

The Scottish legends will be joined by festival foot-stompers Coco and the Butterfields, Innerleithen’s own success story Tommy Ashby, Peebles’ star Magpie Blue, and a secret, unannounced act who will not be named ahead of the show.

“What I can tell you is that this secret act will be playing at a number of arenas around the UK including The O2 in London in 2020, so to have managed to convince them to come here is something special”, explained Clive.

Big Country were originally formed in 1981 by guitar playing founder members Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson.

The 1980s saw a string of successes for the band, including classic singles from the first album, Fields Of Fire, Chance and signature song In A Big Country, which were massive worldwide hits.

There soon followed the anthemic single Wonderland and the second album Steeltown, which debuted at Number 1 in the UK and contained the hit singles East Of Eden, Just a Shadow and Where The Rose Is Sown.

Over the decades the band have performed at many of the UK and Europe's most famous festivals, including Isle Of Wight, V Festival, T In The Park, Oxegen, Pink Pop and Cropredy

They will play Innerleithen Memorial Hall on Sunday, December 15.

Doors are at 6pm with the music starting at 6:15pm.

Tickets are £25 from www.onthebrinck.co.uk.
