VOLUNTEERS managed to fill 15 bin bags during a riverside clearup in Glashiels at the weekend.
The nine-strong team also cut back vegetation along a 140-metre stretch of the Gala Water around the Mill Lade and High Street Car Park.
Much of the 68 kilogrammes of discarded rubbish was collected around the stairs leading up to Gala Park.
Volunteer Daniel Jardine said: "It was great to hear positive responses from passers-by who were delighted that we were working in the area.
"I hope going forward this area will no longer be a dumping ground and our work in cutting back vegetation highlights the Mill Lade more."
