A UNIVERSITY student who admitted a drug dealing charge has been ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Police officers who raided Callum Lothian's home in Glensax Road, Peebles, on April 10 recovered 58.7 grammes of cannabis, valued at £1100, and £710 in cash.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow said the 19-year-old was ordinarily of good character and had a lot to contribute to society.

Lothian was also given a six months night time home curfew.
