A FORMER soldier has gone to war on the toughest of stains.

Conrad Campbell launched his own upholstery cleaning business, Carpetcare Borders, earlier this year.

Armed with the latest hi-tech steam cleaning equipment the squaddie of ten years is bringing carpets, sofas and car interiors back to their as-new condition.

The 33-year-old from Galashiels is so proud of his cleaning service, he posts all before and after photos on the company's social media sites.

Conrad said: "I had my own carpets cleaned some time ago and I felt they could have been done better.

"After lots of research and training I launched Carpetcare Borders.

"I invested a lot of time and money to make sure we had the very best of everything.

"The feedback has been excellent and I've posted all of the before and after photos on our social media to show the quality of our work and how we can get carpets and upholstery back to looking like new again."

Since launching Carpetcare Borders in the spring, Conrad has been deployed on deep-clean missions all over the region.

As well as household carpets and furniture, he regularly works through the night in care homes, offices and retail premises.

Conrad believes his steam-cleaning not only saves his customers money but is also kind to the environment.

He added: "People will spend many hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds on new carpets when they don't have to.

"We can bring up their old carpets to look like they did when they bought them.

"Not only does our cleaning save them the expense of buying new carpets or sofas, it also prevents the old items going to landfill.

"We always provide free quotations so people know exactly how much our cleaning services will cost.

"We've had a lot of very happy customers so far, and we want many more."
