SELKIRK is set to turn back time this weekend.

The ever-popular Scott's Selkirk will take place for the 20th time throughout Saturday.

And organisers have even added extra attractions by coinciding the Georgian celebrations with the toe-tapping Selkirk Sessions and the monthly Farmers Market.

Viv Ross from Scott's Selkirk told us: "Having started as a millennium project, this is the 20th time we have run the event.

"We would like to thank all our volunteers, performers and supporters who have helped us over the years to reach this milestone."

The main streets in Selkirk will again be transformed into the days when Sir Walter dispensed justice from his courtroom.

Period costumes are still available for hire from the event's Market Place shop.

As well as traditional entertainment, which includes puppeteers, dancers, musicians and performing animals, there will be an array of traditional children's games on offer, such as splat-the-rat and a coconut shy.

Fare from the 19th century will be served up at Meg Dods' Kitchen, and Sir Walter will return to the bench to deliberate over a couple of cases.

Scott's Selkirk runs throughout Saturday, while the cream of local talent will take to stages in pubs and clubs around the town for the Selkirk Sessions from Friday evening through to Sunday.

A car boot sale has also been organised for the Market Place on Sunday.

Viv added: "Our performers include GaelForce, Carlenjig, Riddell Fiddles, Bogie Close Stompers, Highline Fiddlers, and Bob Liddle.

"We are again really looking forward to the open mic sessions where we will no doubt be treated to some exceptional music.

"There will also be a host of talented buskers in both the Market Place and the High Street to add to the entertainment."
