ORCANIAN quartet Fara will perform at the the Eastgate theatre at the end of October.

Fara, made up of Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price and Jennifer Austin, have been performing together since 2014, and after they're debut album from 2016, they're bringing their traditional folky sound to the Borders.

Inspired by the works of poets and musicians from the Orkney Islands, Fara's music has gone from strength-to-strength and has developed its own interesting take on harmonious layering. Treating the fiddles as voices gives the performance the a greater depth, especially when accompanied with Jennifer on the piano.

The group's latest album, 'Times from Times Fall' features a mix of vocal and instrumental pieces, many of which the group co-wrote together, including whilst on their tour of the USA.

The new music is said to showcase the best of what the Orkney Islands have to offer the world of folk music whilst also pointing in a new and exciting direction.

The band have received high praise for their work, a Folk Radio UK reviewer said: "I doubt if there’s another band that produce such complex and engaging fiddle music, along with equally complex and engaging song."

Fara will perform at the Eastgate Theatre on October 26 at 7.30pm.

Adult tickets are £15 and children's are £6.
