CLASSICAL music takes centre stage in Hawick next week with the arrival of three of the country's leading performers.

Flautist Lee Holland, violinist Rachel Spencer and cellist Feargus Egan have all played for the Scottish National Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Individually they have enjoyed illustrious careers and won many prestigious prizes as well as earning scholarships.

Together, as the Monzani Trio they bring a fresh insight and personality to their performances.

On Saturday, October 12 they will perform a stunning variety of pieces from some familiar and not-so-familiar composers.

Vanda Mercer from Hawick Music Club told us: "The Monzani Trioall all enjoy a passion for chamber music.

"Their concert programme for the evening takes us on a journey through history and begins with Arangelo Correlli and follows with Josef Haydn.

"La Musica Natturna della Strade di Madrid is next with all the charm lightness and invention of Luigi Boccherini.

"Then George Philipp Telemann, J S Bach Charles Stamitz, James Oswald, Eugene Ysaye, Eddie McGuire, Tilmann Denhard and Bela Bartok.

"This is a wonderful programme that won’t disappoint."

Tickets, priced at £12 for adults and free for all under 18s, are available from the Heart of Hawick box office.

The concert on Saturday, October 12 is scheduled to start at 7pm.
