AFTER a popular show in 2018, Magical Mozart by Candlelight is coming back to the Borders this month.

Kelso’s Tait Hall will be immersing itself in the classical baroque world of one of the greatest romantic composers on Friday, October 25.

From the producers of A Viennese Strauss Gala, the show features a packed programme of classical music and song, which includes excerpts from the most memorable of Mozart’s operas, such as: The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte, Don Giovanni and many more.

With beautiful settings, costumes, lighting, and of course candles, the European Baroque Ensemble, consisting of some of the finest classical players in the continent, transport you back to the sumptuous past. The candle-light perfectly evoking the baroque period of the Maestro Mozart's heyday.

World class soloists including South African Baritone Denver Martin Smith, Hungarian corralaturra soprano Alinka Kozari, and the Australian soprano Saira Luther will be on hand to deliver an evening of Mozart masterpieces.

The great success of this show is that it brings Mozart to life in a way which appeals as much to the aficionado and opera buff as it does to the uninitiated viewing opera for the first time.

Producer and director Stephen Leatherhead told us: "As someone who has brought innumerable show to theatres throughout the UK and in particular for Scotland for over 20 years from Edinburgh to Inverness and many places in between, I am very excited at the prospect of bringing our high quality show back to the Borders and working with Live Borders to bring renowned performers and top quality entertainment to the region.”

Magical Mozart by Candlelight is being hosted by local charity, Live Borders on Friday, October 25 from 7:30.

Tickets are £19.50 and available from www.liveborders.org.uk/book/whats-on
