A hotel worker who admitted embezzling £655 from his employer has been fined £800 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Twenty-year-old Cameron Dunn pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at the Ednam House Hotel in Kelso between July and November last year.
Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said it was a breach of trust during the course of his employment and there was also a gambling problem in the background.
Dunn of Queens Acre, Kelso, was ordered pay the fine at a rate of £100 a month.
The fine had been reduced from £1,000 due to the guilty plea.
