NEW, up-and-coming folk group, The Tweed Project, will take to the Eastgate Arts Centre this weekend as part of their UK wide tour throughout October.

The six-piece band, which was formed in 2015, will perform six new tracks from their recent E.P. release.

The band explores how English and Scottish folk styles blend together, a mix which is both 'unique and magnificent'.

The members of the band also come with their own great credentials. Vocal and guitar duo Josie Duncan and Pablo Lafuente, Radio 2's Young Folk Award winners are joined by fellow duo, guitarist, Greg Russell and fiddle player, Ciaran Algar, who won Radio 2's Horizon Awards. The band is completed by talented pipe and whistle player Ali Levack and percussionist Evan Carson.

Although a short tour, audiences are promised a gig to remember, watching the fresh, young band give their all in an engaging and highly energetic performance.

During the tour, the band will be supported by Andrew Waite.

The Tweed Project will perform at the Eastgate Arts Centre on Saturday, October 19 at 7pm.
