THEY are amongst the most successful folk musicians to have come out of the Borders.
And next weekend they will return home and take to the stage in Melrose.
In the five years they have been performing, Sottish firebrands, Talisk have stacked up several major awards for their explosively energetic yet artfully woven sound, including ‘Folk Band of the Year’ at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards in 2017, and a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award.
Musicians, Mohsen Amini, Hayley Keenan, and Graeme Armstrong seamlessly meld together the notes from their concertina, fiddle, and guitar to produce a multi-layered, enthralling signature sound that has effortlessly captivated audiences throughout the UK, USA, and Australia.
They have amassed a die-hard following, and the folk music and world music media have heaped praise on the trio.
The release of their hotly anticipated second album, Beyond, last October was met with a 5-star ‘Top of the World’ review in Songlines, with praise for the band as 'incredibly infectious and endearing… fresh, invigorating, accomplished and playfully frisky',
With appearances at festivals include the Cambridge Folk Festival, Denmark’s Tønder, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Celtic Colours, Milwaukee Irish Festival, and five successive outings at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections, Talisk are ready to return to the Borders and show us what they can do.
Promoter Becki Hodgson from hosts Live Borders told us: "This musical event promises to delight and excite.
"We are extremely privileged to be hosting such prolific and local grown multi-award-winning musicians."
Talisk will be on stage on Sunday, November 3 at Melrose Corn Exchange.
Tickets are priced at £12 in advance and £14 on the door. Under 16s are £6.
