POLICE are not treating the death of a 25-year-old man on a farm near Hawick as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to Northhouse Farm, close to Teviothead, at 10.50am following reports of a man being seriously injured in a machinery accident.
The farm worker, named locally as Bryan Thomson, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
A Police Scotland spokesman said that were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and that a report is being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.
Bryan's employers J Hepburn & Co posted a tribute on its Facebook page on Saturday.
It read: "Yesterday, Bryan lost his life in a tragic accident at Northhouse.
"It was a massive shock but praise must be given to everyone including the emergency services who dealt with a very difficult situation.
"Bryan worked with us full time for about five years and self employed for a few years before that.
"He was an incredibly hard worker often keen to go a start a job as most were finishing!
"To many, Bryan was the face of the contracting side of the business and was very highly thought of as a skilled operator, carrying out his work to a high standard with plenty of banter along the way.
"He was very well liked and was certainly a huge asset to our business.
"Bryan was not just an employee, but really an integral part of a family business and was taking more responsibility of day to day operations.
"He will be greatly missed as a workmate and a friend, for his funny banter and witty cheeky remarks.
"His untimely passing will leave a very large void at Northhouse and beyond."
