AN Italian national has been accused of causing a crash which resulted in a police car ending up on its side and embedded in a tree.
Sacha Coltellacci is charged with careless driving on the A72 Innerleithen to Peebles road at Cardrona on July 13.
It is claimed the 44-year-old from Milan drove his BMW 1 Series car into the path of the police vehicle which was then being driven on the road while displaying flashing blue lights and sounding a siren.
The charge states the 25-year-old driver of the police car was seriously injured and Coltellacci himself, his wife and two children aged one and five were all injured.
The case was continued without plea at Selkirk Sheriff Court until November 11.
