AS treats go, an intimate evening with the Scottish voice of Americana has to be up there.

Jill Jackson has deservedly received glowing praise for her fifth solo album, Are We There Yet?

And while the 2018 release does sound fantastic on the big stages of Celtic Connections and the like with her full electric band, the trimmed down acoustic version of this wonderful album could be something really special.

Ever since the unexpected break-up of Speedway in 2005, the reinvented Jill Jackson has been enchanting audiences with her sideways shuffle towards her country roots.

Relocating to Nashville and touring the heartlands of Americana music has seen Jill and her music develop with astonishing authenticity and beauty.

Arguably Are We There Yet? is her finest work to date.

Produced by former Bible frontman Boo Hewerdine, Are We There Yet? is a stunning nostalgic journey through meandering melodies and heart-felt storytelling.

On Friday (November 15) Jill Jackson will take to the MacArts stage in Galashiels to perform an intimate acoustic show.

A spokesman for the MacArts told us: " This will be a striped back show detailing the storytelling nature of the album and some behind scenes stories of the recording.

"Are We There Yet? is an unabashed embrace of gleeful, melodic choruses delivered in Jill’s unmistakeable warm and heart-wrenching voice."

Tickets for Jill Jackson at the MacArts, priced at £10 in advance, are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/macarts.

Tickets, priced at £12, are also available on the door.

Doors open at 7.30pm.
