REMEMBRANCE Sunday in Peebles began with the Dedication of the New Standards service at Peebles Old Parish Kirk.

They were presented to the Detachment of the Army Cadet Force by the Royal British Legion.

Large crowds lined the High Street as the New Standards were carried by Cerys Midgley and Ebony Simpson, who followed the Peebles Burgh Silver Band and the Peebles Ex-Servicemen's Pipe Band as they paraded to the War Memorial at the Quadrangle.

Peebles High School's Head Girl Charlotte Muller Stuart and Head Boy William Adams, as well as young people from the Girl Guides and Tweeddale Scouts were in attendance, with Peebles High head team each giving a reading before the laying of the wreaths.

Lord Lieutenant of Peeblesshire Sir Hew Strachan laid a wreath alongside representatives from groups such as Peebles Community Council, the British Red Cross and by Herbert Ferguson, who carried the Standard for the Royal British Legion for 33 years.

On the High Street, Gustaf's Studio and Gallery honoured those in the Forces by raising money two Armed Forces charities. Iain Lennox, a painter and sculptor who served with the Black Watch, displayed his works in the gallery's Armistice window alongside his officer's dress uniform, the red jacket dates back to the Victorian era.
The sales from Iain's work will be donated to SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, and BLESMA, the Limbless Veterans Charity.
