THE daughter of late swimming and water polo great, Frater Davidson completed a 10 kilometre swim in aid of MND last weekend.

As previously reported, Tracey Davidson, who grew up in Galashiels and now works for the London South Bank University, was training to swim 10 kilometres in aid of Doddie Weir's Motor Neuron Disease charity, My Name'5 Doddie.

Last month, the furthest Tracey had swum was 160 length, 40 short of the total she'd been training for.

But on Sunday, November 10, Tracey made the 200 lengths in the Stratford Olympic Pool in London, completing her marathon in an amazing time.

Tracey told us: "I got round in just over four and a half hours!

"A personal best," she laughed.

Thanks to her fundraising through Just Giving, Tracey has raised £2010 for My Name'5 Doddie, more than double her original target of £750.

Tracey's dad, Frater, who passed away in 2004, was a much loved character in Galashiels. The late owner of the newsagent on the corner of Market Street, was also a champion water polo player. He represented Scotland on an international level on many occasions, and was awarded his first cap against Ireland in 1959.
