A JOINER has been accused of being in possession of two knives during a neighbour dispute in Galashiels.

Twenty six year old Gary Wishart appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court and denied having the offensive weapons in Channel Street on Monday.

He was also alleged to have been on bail from Edinburgh Sheriff Court at the time.

The Crown opposed bail but Wishart - who had just moved to Galashiels from Edinburgh - was released with the special conditions that he did not contact two named people and stayed out of Channel Street.

Wishart, who gave a new address in Roxburghe Place, Newtown St Boswells, will stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on February 27 with an intermediate hearing on February 10.
