A BORDERS couple have been making a splash in 2019.

And on Hogmanay, Mike and Lilian Paterson-Murray will make their final dive of a year-long fundraising swim challenge.

The couple who live near Jedburgh embarked on a will swimming challenge last New Year.

The two health workers regularly had to break through ice last winter to take their daily dip.

And every penny they have raised through taking a daily outdoor dip has gone to the terminal illness support charity Marie Curie.

Family friend Pamela Notman told us: "They have mainly been using local lochs and rivers or going for a swim wherever they are.

"If, for whatever reason, it wasn't possible to swim one day, they did two the next."
