A 23-year-old man has been remanded in custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court after being accused of five offences.
Lewis Gaffney pleaded not guilty to driving away a car without the consent of the owner and stealing a mobile phone and charger from a house in Borthwick Road, Hawick, on Wednesday.
He also denied stealing quantity of fuel from the Co-op garage in Lauder and driving on the A68 while disqualified and with no insurance.
Gaffney, of no fixed abode, made no application for bail and he was remanded in custody.
A trial date has been fixed for February 6 with an intermediate hearing on January 20.
