AFTER weeks of voting across the Borders, we can now reveal the winner of 2019’s Bonnie Babies competition.

For the second year running Salva Duncan from Peebles has scooped the prize.

The Border Telegraph and the Peeblesshire News received hundreds of votes in a bid to take the £300 cash prize.

Salva, who is now almost two years old, was entered this year by her dad Ronnie after previously being put forward by mum Cheryl in last year’s competition.

Cheryl was surprised to hear about her daughter being entered and winning the competition for a second year, as she hadn’t realised Salva’s dad had put their daughter forward.

She said: “I did not know he was entering her again, I was happy that she won last year but clearly proud dad had different ideas.

“Although he wanted to get through the first round, I think momentum got the better of him and here we are with a second win which I’m shocked by as I had no involvement this time.”

Both parents are very pleased that their daughter has done so well in this year’s competition.

Ronnie told us: “We are really, really surprised that Salva won again.

“I can’t thank my colleagues at the Stable Bar and also at the Horseshoe enough for voting for her.

“I’m sure it was their votes that made the difference.”

Cheryl joked: “I was happy she won the first time, I’m delighted she’s won the second time but there will be no third time.

“Thank you to anyone who voted and we will be making a donation, this time to a children’s charity.”
