SELKIRK could be set for another traffic stand-off following concerns over a crumbling wall in the town.
A forced one-way system operated for more than four years during a dispute over a roadside wall in Yarrow Terrace.
A resolution for rebuilding the wall was only reached in 2017 between a hotelier and the local authority.
But similar negotiations have now begun with three different landowners over a deteriorating wall along Dunsdale Road.
Selkirkshire councillor Gordon Edgar said: “The condition of wall is being discussed by our officers and it is a matter for negotiations.
“There are three different properties along the stretch of road.”
Issues with standing water and the crumbling wall have regularly been raised at meetings of Selkirk Community Council over the past couple of years.
Despite attempts to clean out drains, the issue of pooling water has continued.
Councillor Edgar added: “Officers have examined the drainage again recently to see why the water isn’t draining away.
“We are awaiting the results of their tests before anything can be done.”
