A NEW festival will take place this summer on the shores of St Mary's Loch.

But many of the revellers face a scenic day in the saddle before they can dance the night away.

The Muck n' Mac Festival is the brainchild of former Galashiels Academy pupil Cameron Balsour.

Tickets for the July get-together don't just include an evening of music, entertainment and fine food in the Yarrow Valley but also organised cycle runs to and from Galashiels.

Cameron explained: "St Mary's Loch is a stunning location and we'll have a full evening of music in the big marquee as well as other entertainment and workshops.

"For the cyclists taking part they will have the choice of a fully marked road- or off-road route to reach the festival site, as well as a different route to come back the following day.

"The whole weekend will be a great mix of riding bikes and music."

A range of tickets are available for the Muck n' Mac Festival, from a full weekend package which includes a Friday evening soiree at the Tempest Brewery, Saturday and Sunday cycles, and the main Saturday evening event at St Mary's Loch, through to passes for individual rides and other parts of the weekend..

Cameron added: "We are making the Muck n' Mac accessible to as many people as we can.

"There is a free tent and baggage drop off to and from the festival village, there's loch-side camping, charging points for E-bikes and lots of family-friendly activities.

"People can choose to ride on one day or two - or if they'd rather just attend the music side of things they can do that as well.

"The Borders is a beautiful place and there's nowhere better to have a festival like this."

The Muck n' Mack Festival will be hend on the weekend of July 3 to 5.
