POLICE are appealing for help to trace three people responsible for a vicious assault in Innerleithen last night.

A 31-year-old man was rushed to Borders General Hospital suffering from head injuries following the attack outside flats in Caddon Court just before 10pm.

The man has since been discharged from hospital.

And detectives are pursuing a positive line of enquiry into tracing the man and two women who carried out the assault.

Detective Constable Narelle Allan told us: "From our enquiries so far, we believe the injured man had been involved in an altercation earlier with a man and two women and that this attack was as a result of that.

“We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen or heard anything that will assist our enquiry, to come forward.

"We are particularly keen to hear from a woman who was seen helping the injured man after the attack.”

The suspects are described as - the man being around five-foot-eight with missing teeth, one woman being around the same height with blonde hair, and the other woman around five-foot-four with dark hair.

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
