GALASHIELS Community Council has received a generous donation from the customers of Alex Dalgetty and Sons.
The cheque was presented to the community council chair, Judith Cleghorn by Craig Murray, the great-great grandson of Alex Dalgetty.
Customers from the local bakery raised the money after making donations in the Galashiels shop. The total given to the community council was £546.
On Thursday, January 30, members of the Gala in Bloom sub-group from the community council were at Bank Street Gardens helping to clear up any weeds and tidy the flower beds before planting for spring and summer.
Members of the council and Mr Murray were also joined by the newly appointed community enterprise manager for Energise Galashiels, Douglas Watt.
As previously reported, Mr Watt's new role will see him help revitalise Galashiels town centre over the next 12 months, including the installation of street art and murals in the town.
The next meeting of Galashiels community council will be today (Wednesday, February 5) at 6.30pm in the Focus Centre, Galashiels.
