A BORDERS chocolate master is set to become the next Mary Berry.

Ruth Hinks has spent the past couple of months filming a new Bake Off-style show with renowned celebrity chefs, the Hairy Bikers.

The co-owner of Cocoa Black will cast her eye, as well as her taste-buds, over the creations of seven budding chocolatiers during the weekly screenings of The Hairy Bikers Chocolate Challenge.

And the winner will get the chance to create their very own chocolate bar to be manufactured by Nestlé.

Ruth told us: "Filming with the Hairy Bikers was an absolute blast!

"I was a little nervous beforehand but Si and Dave are old pros and very quickly taught me the ropes.

"The contestants were great and it was a pleasure to watch them develop during the series.

"I’m hopeful that The Bikers will pay a visit to Cocoa Black sometime soon. Peebles won’t know what’s hit it!”

Multi-award winning Ruth, who is a UK and World chocolate master, launched Cocoa Black with husband David in 2008.

The couple has welcomed many famous guests into their Peebles chocolate school, including Royalty, over the years.

But, as the judge of The Hairy Bikers Chocolate Challenge, Ruth is set to become even more well-known as an authority on everything chocolaty.

Part of the filming was done at the Peebles premises - and the town is expected to feature at some point in the weekly programme.

A spokeswoman for The Hairy Bikers Chocolate Challenge told us: “Under the scrutiny of award-winning chocolate master Ruth Hinks, each week the contestants must create real world products worthy of any supermarket shelf – and whoever comes up short will receive their marching orders.

“To succeed they’ll have to show edible imagination and a mastery of technique, but in the end only one will see their very own chocolate creation made real.”

The Hairy Bikers Chocolate Challenge will begin on Wednesday evening on Channel 5 at 9pm.

Over the weeks the seven wannabe Willy Wonkas will face a series of challenges that will push their creativity and skills to the limit.

The eventual winner of The Hairy Bikers Chocolate Challenge will get to design their own chocolate bars, which will then be sold across the UK.
