A radio presenter from Galashiels has admitted having more than 600 indecent images of children on his computer.

Paul Brownlee pled guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to “making indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children” over a 12 months period up to January 2019.

The 47-year-old has most recently been working at Wave FM in Dundee, but previously broadcast in Edinburgh and the Borders.

He was also an Army Cadets leader in Galashiels.

Police, after being tipped off, found a total of 633 indecent images of a laptop belonging to Brownlee.

Procurator Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin told the Sheriff Court that Brownlee was a manager at Specsavers in St Andrews at the time of his arrest last April.

Gilmartin said: “A full examination of the HP laptop was subsequently carried out and on analysis, was found to contain 663 inaccessible indecent images of children including 16 category A images, 30 category B images and 617 category C images."

Brownlee was due to appear again at court yesterday, but sentencing has been deferred until a later date.

His bail was continued.
