A GALASHIELS man has been banned from the road for driving a mobility scooter while unfit through drink or drugs.

Andrew MacFarlane pleaded guilty to the offence which happened in Tulley Court in Glenfield Road West, on July 19.

The 41-year-old also admitted headbutting a police officer to his injury.

MacFarlane of Torwoodlee Road, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £200 and fined another £200 for the police assault.

He was also fined £100 on each charge for two bail offences.

MacFarlane - who receives £1,110 a month in benefits - was ordered to pay the £600 fine at a rate of £50 per month.
