NOMINATIONS are being invited for membership of Galashiels Community Council.
Anyone living in the town - and their name appears on the current Electoral Register for the community council area - is able to put their name forward.
The closing date for nominations is noon next Thursday (February 20)
Galashiels Community Council consists of a maximum of 15 members.
In the event of there being more nominations than places, a ballot will be held.
A spokesman for Scottish Borders Council said: "The Community Council plays an important part in Galashiels and anyone interested in working with their community is encouraged to put their name forward for this election."
Nomination forms are available from DS Dalgleish & Son, Petrol Station, Melrose Road; Messrs Pike & Chapman, Solicitors, 36 Bank Street; and Galashiels Library.
Completed nomination forms should be returned to Fiona Walling, Galashiels CC Election, FREEPOST RRBU–KBCB–JBJG, Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SA.
