A radio presenter from Galashiels has avoided prison despite being caught with more than 600 indecent images of children.
Paul Brownlee was sentenced today at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The 47-year-old, who has presented radio shows in the Borders, Edinburgh and Dundee, was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work and two years' supervision.
Brownlee was caught last April when police raided the home of his partner and discovered 633 indecent images on his laptop.
He admitted “making indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children” over a 12 months period up to January 2019.
During a previous hearing Procurator Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin told the Sheriff Court that Brownlee was a manager at Specsavers in St Andrews at the time of his arrest last April.
Gilmartin said: “A full examination of the HP laptop was subsequently carried out and on analysis, was found to contain 663 inaccessible indecent images of children including 16 category A images, 30 category B images and 617 category C images."
Brownlee was also added to the Sex Offenders Register.
