THE Scottish Chamber Orchestra has announced its 2020 Summer Tour featuring a host of exceptional conductors and soloists.

And, the good news is, they are coming to the Borders.

On Saturday, June 20 the delights of some of the best loved classical music will ring out in Selkirk's Victoria Hall.

Packed with music ranging from baroque to contemporary, the touring programme will bring some of the finest music ever written to towns and cities across the length and breadth of Scotland.

SCO sub-principal bass, Adrian Bornet commented: “This is one of the happiest moments of music making in our yearly calendar as we explore a beautiful country and revisit familiar places and audiences.

"As a national company the SCO takes pleasure and pride in visiting the length, breadth and width of Scotland, not only performing but receiving the friendship and enthusiasm of our audiences in places small and large.”

During three dates on the tour - Paisley Abbey, Selkirk and Castle Douglas - soloist Nicolas Altstaedt will join the SCO.

The dynamic and varied programme offers ample opportunities to showcase Altstaedt's musical prowess.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra said: "The SCO is passionate about sharing the experience of exceptional live orchestral music-making and inspiring new generations of classical music lovers.

"The summer tour supports this mission by making concerts as accessible as possible to younger audiences by offering free tickets to Under 18s and £6 tickets for Under 26s, students and the unemployed."
