RETURNING home to the Borders inspired a local artist's work for her upcoming exhibition.

Caroline Mordue's display, Coming Home, will open in Old Gala House on Saturday, March 28.

The paintings are abstract interpretations of the Borders landscape, influenced by Caroline's emotions upon returning to the Borders.

Caroline said: "I’ve recently moved back to the Borders, and it’s made such a difference to my work to be living in the heart of the Scottish Borders landscape again.

"Just outside my doorstep are the most inspiring views, and I’m often out walking with sketchbook and camera in hand.

“I’m excited to have this opportunity to exhibit my work in the wonderful setting of the Old Gala House.

"I feel that the paintings evoke the emotions and memories associated with this area, and I hope that visitors will experience this too."

Some of Caroline's paintings will be on sale from Old Gala House, allowing visitors to take home their favourite piece.

Phoebe Stewart, Assistant Curator at Old Gala House told us: “We’re thrilled that Caroline is showcasing her work in the Pringle Room at Old Gala House.

"Through collaborating with artists, Live Borders is committed to making our communities happier, healthier and stronger and we find culture is a vital part of this process.

"This exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to purchase artwork created by a local artist, and what could be nicer than having your own piece of the Scottish Borders landscape at home?”

Coming Home will be open until Sunday, June 7, and will be displayed in the Pringle Room.

Old Gala House is open March to May, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am to 4pm, closed Mondays and Sundays (except for Easter Sunday (April 12) 1pm to 4pm and Easter Monday 10am to 4pm; June, Monday-Saturday, 10am to 4pm and Sundays 1pm to 4pm.
