A HAWICK man gave a false name to police officers when they visited his home when there was a warrant out for his arrest.
John Donaldson, 51, pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice at his home in Ivanhoe Terrace on June 28.
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick told Jedburgh Sheriff Court: "It was a stupid thing to do."
Donaldson was fined £200 and ordered to pay a £10 victim surcharge.
