TWEEDDALE MP David Mundell helped building society staff in Peebles blow out the candles last week.
It's 40 years since the shutters first came up at 7 Eastgate.
Originally part of the Dunfermline Building Society, the branch has continued under the Nationwide banner in more recent years.
Staff and customers enjoyed refreshments, biscuits and, of course, birthday cake during the celebrations, which doubled up as a fundraiser for Parkinsons UK.
Mr Mundell told us: "I was delighted to accept the invitation as I appreciate the important role building societies play in our communities."
