A 40-year-old man has been banned from entering Duns for the next four months after admitting two offences involving his former partner.

Martyn Postlethwaite, of Oswald Street, Carlisle, pleaded guilty to shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner towards the woman in Bennison Square, Eyemouth, on February 16, throwing food items and causing damage to a door.

He also admitted assaulting the woman by kicking her on the body.

Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client was an alcoholic and first to accept his behaviour was unacceptable.

Sentence was deferred for four months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court for good behaviour.

Sheriff Peter Paterson said that if Postlethwaite stayed out of trouble then the matter would be dealt with by some sort of community-based disposal when the case recalls on July 6.
