MOTORISTS are being told to expect an overnight closure from Ashkirk Junction for maintenance work.
The roadworks will begin on Friday, April 10 and will run from 8pm until 6am on Saturday, April 11.
Diversions will be in place for the duration of the closure.
A spokesperson from Amey, who maintain Scotland's trunk roads, said: "The works will benefit over 5,000 vehicles using this section of the A7 each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
"Southbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A7 at Ladylands, Selkirk, via a left turn onto the A699 and at St Boswells Crossroads, traffic will turn right to join the A68 southbound. Traffic will proceed on this route and at Cleekimin Junction, will turn right to join the A698.
"Traffic will continue for 10 miles towards Hawick and will be instructed to turn right onto Mart Street. At North Bridge Roundabout, traffic will be able to rejoin the A7 southbound carriageway and diversion will end.
"Northbound traffic will follow the same diversion route but in the opposite direction."
