The council's chief executive has issued a message to workers running essential services and caring for vulnerable Borders residents.

In a statement released today (March 24), Tracey Logan urged workers to keep up their efforts.

She said: "I am making a plea to those who are involved in the response across the Scottish Borders to continue to undertake your role and help us all ensure the health and wellbeing of our residents remains paramount."

An SBC spokesperson said information on council services, including waste collection, can be accessed through this web page.

Ms Logan's full statement reads: "We continue to work on further details for all our service arrangements.

"This includes our plans around providing health and social care provision, wider community support as well as things like schools.

"I am making a plea to those who are involved in the response across the Scottish Borders to continue to undertake your role and help us all ensure the health and wellbeing of our residents remains paramount.

"That must be the ultimate priority today and in the weeks ahead.  "This situation remains extremely challenging and is unlike anything we have ever faced.

"We are working around the clock to ensure we can continue to make sure people are looked after and have access to help they need.

"It is vital we all continue to work together to maintain our services for the Scottish Borders and we will make further detailed announcements as soon as possible."
