POLICE have been carrying out patrols at Borders beauty spots today, to make sure the government’s coronavirus lockdown rules are being followed.
Officers were out at a number of popular sites in the region to ensure people are not making unnecessary trips.
A spokesperson said: “Our local roads policing officers were out on patrol today (Sunday) at our various scenic spots.
“Whilst we wouldn’t normally say this - they were happy to report they didn’t see anybody.
“Please remember, we are here to keep you safe and encourage you to stay home and follow the Scottish government’s guidance.
“If you see our officers out and about be sure to give them a wave.”
The government says people should only go out for essential food, exercise or work and stay at least two metres away from others.
