NEARLY a quarter of NHS Borders staff who have taken a coronavirus test were found to have the illness.

NHS Borders issued the latest breakdown of results on May 1.

Out of the 503 staff who have been tested since March 18, a total of 123 returned positive results (24.45 per cent of participants).

Meanwhile, 356 were found not to have the virus, with a further 24 results pending.

The proportion of positive results has fallen in recent days.

In mid-April, around 32 per cent of participants had tested positive.

This week, a testing centre is being run for for key workers.

The site at Netherdale, Galashiels, is available for self-isolating workers showing symptoms, as well as family members.
